Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s much-loved sonnet is set here for three part female chorus with piano accompaniment. The harmonies are very much inspired by French impressionism with sumptuous 9th chords and the gentle shifts from major to minor. Secondary school and adult choirs have enjoyed performing this piece since it was composed in 1994, and it has become a favourite piece for wedding ceremonies.
