  Commissioned by All Hallows’ School, Brisbane, the text for this work is adapted from the writings of Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy order: “may God’s mercy bless and protect us all.” A versatile Taizé-style chant, suitable for use in a range of liturgical services. • How Do I Love Thee?

  Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s much-loved sonnet is set here for three part female chorus with piano accompaniment. The harmonies are very much inspired by French impressionism with sumptuous 9th chords and the gentle shifts from major to minor. Secondary school and adult choirs have enjoyed performing this piece since it was composed in 1994, and it has become a favourite piece for wedding ceremonies. Optional string quartet accompaniment is also available upon request. Arranged for SATB, as well.

• The Suscipe of Catherine McAuley

  Catherine McAuley was the Irish founder of the Sisters of Mercy order and her Suscipe prayer is revered by Mercy schools and institutions across the world. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of All Hallows’ School in Brisbane, Timothy Sherlock composed this setting of the prayer for SSA choir and piano. Optional string quartet accompaniment is also available.
